Principal Message - April 9th

Greetings Husky Families

Welcome to another great week at Jahn School of Fine Arts.  As we move through the month of April, I am excited for the days ahead.  A mid-week treat for everyone centers around our Parent-Teacher conferences on Wednesday.  This is a great opportunity for parents and staff to connect.  Conference times are from 12 to 6 pm with a break from 3 to 3:45 pm.  Although there is no school on this day, we do have school on Thursday, April 11th.  April 11th is conference day for high schools.  Our LSC elections will also be held on April 10th.  We look forward to seeing you.

Please continue to embrace our SEL theme for April, Self-care.  As I have shared, this is an area of growth for me. It is truly something that I am working to improve daily.   Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.

On Friday, our Jahn Pride Alliance (JPA) will host a Day of Silence.  This event, geared towards our middle school students, centers around student-led activities around the country.  During the activities students are encouraged to remain silent for all or part of the school day to call attention to the harassment and discrimination faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.  The culminating event for our middle school students will be an assembly highlighting their accomplishments.  Other grade levels are encouraged to show their solidarity by being silent for a shorter period of time.  For further information about the day, please check out the link:

Nominations Open for Crossing Guard of the Year Award
CPS is currently encouraging school communities to nominate their favorite crossing guards for the District's Crossing Guard of the Year Award using this form. Students, staff, school leaders, parents, and other community members are all welcome to submit a nomination for a crossing guard who has made a difference in their lives. The form will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15th, and the winners will be announced on Monday, May 13th, 2024. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]. Let’s make sure our own Mr. Michael Watson is nominated and acknowledged for the great job he does inside and outside of the school.
