My name is Dr. Berger and I’m delighted to be back at Jahn! My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in art history from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), a M.A.T. from Northeastern University, a M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership from the University of Chicago-Illinois, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, also from the University of Illinois-Chicago. During my time with CPS, I have covered various long term leaves and have worked with all ages and subjects. My endorsements include art, language arts, middle school, and social studies.
When I’m not educating young minds, I enjoy reading historical fiction. Ernie, my elderly cat, is usually sleeping next to me when I’m reading. I am passionate about giant pandas. I also truly enjoy traveling to new places and countries. For the past two summers, I had great fun exploring many cities and countries in Central Europe, from Croatia to Poland, down through Hungary, and other countries in the vicinity. I believe travelling to different countries, exploring different cultures through their foods and language, is essential for many reason. It also recharges my brain to think of new lessons and ideas that I bring back to the classroom. I’m looking forward to another wonderful school year!
