Welcome! My name is Sydney Prystowsky and I am a Special Education teacher in middle school. I primarily work in 7th and 8th grade, co-teaching with general education teachers while supporting diverse learners through inclusion. My desire for working with children started at a young age, specifically, helping children with exceptional learning needs. This transpired into my journey of becoming an educator.
I grew up in a north suburb of Chicago after living in Lakeview until the middle of my elementary years. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona with a degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation, and a minor in Psychology. Upon graduating, I moved back to the city. I was always a city girl at heart! I began teaching at a private therapeutic day school for a few years. My experiences there motivated me to pursue graduate school for a Master’s degree in Special Education at Northeastern Illinois University.
Ultimately, this led me to Chicago Public Schools. Before coming to Jahn, I was teaching at Lasalle Language Academy. I am passionate about working with diverse populations of students. Jahn exemplifies the importance of inclusivity, which makes me so proud of our school. It has been a pleasure working with your children. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and mini golden doodle puppy!
