Dr. Derrick Kimbrough

My family swears that I was always the child who wanted to be the teacher when I played school with my cousins. Equipped with pen and paper, I was eager to teach and learn from others. After a brief stint with the federal government, the “teaching bug” bit me and I began my career with Chicago Public Schools. For the past 18 years, I have spent time learning and growing with students from a number of schools across the district.

I consider myself a lifelong learner, who fully embraces every opportunity to grow and learn. This mindset is one that I live by and encourage those around me to find their path towards being the best version of themselves. My educational background includes the following:

  • Rust College – BA, Political Science/Mass Communications
  • University of Missouri - Columbia – MPA, Public Administration/Public Fin. Mgmt
  • National-Louis University – MA, Teaching
  • University of Illinois-Chicago – Ed.D., Urban Educational Leadership

I am very excited to be a part of the Jahn family.
