Hi there! My name is Dana Stamos, and I am thrilled to be joining Jahn School of Fine Arts as the first grade teacher! As a child, I looked up to my elementary school teachers. Their passion, kindness, enthusiasm, and creativity shaped my character, inspiring me to become an educator myself. I am excited to now share my love of teaching, laughing, and learning with students of my own.

I grew up in Evanston, Illinois, so Chicago has always been close to my heart. After high school, I swapped one midwestern city for another, attending The College of Wooster in Ohio where I studied sociology and early childhood education. After graduation, I moved back to Chicago to complete my student teaching in CPS. Last year, I taught first grade at a charter school on the south side, and I am looking forward to continuing to teach first graders this year, as they are filled with curiosity, laughter, and light. I hope to pursue my ESL endorsement this fall, as I believe further education will provide me with the tools to best reach students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Outside of the classroom, I love to be in nature. I have spent multiple summers in Wisconsin leading canoeing and backpacking trips for middle and high schoolers, which brings me so much joy! I am also a student at iO Theater where I take improv comedy classes. While I will never be the next Tina Fey, I have found I am able to bring acting and improvisation into my teaching, which is always a blast!

I am looking forward to watching each student grow this year. Every child brings something unique and beautiful into this world, and I am lucky to spend my days teaching your children and learning from them, as well.
