Thank you for getting your students to school every day on time. Our attendance rate for last week was 98% school-wide! During drop off and pick up, please do not block traffic and use the curbside parking for a kiss and go. This helps keep traffic flowing and leave spots for other parents to drop off their kids.
Student fees are $50 per student and can be paid in the main office with Margo. The money is used to purchase student instructional materials. Student fees are due today.
Students in grades 3-8 are finished with MAP testing. Students will work with their teachers to set goals for the winter MAP testing, which will happen for all 2-8 grade students in January.
All parents are invited to attend the Sangrias for Jahn event on October 5th, 2016 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. I will be discussing my history and vision for the future of Jahn School of Fine Arts. State Senate President John Cullerton, Representative Ann Williams, and Alderman Scott Waugespack will join me for the discussion at the home of Anne and Mark Berkoff. We will celebrate the recent successes of our Level 1 school and learn about the current outlook of funding and community support. The Husky Hustle is coming to Jahn!! Get ready to have some fun and help our school. On October 31, 2016 all Jahn students (teachers and staff too!) will have the chance to participate in the second annual Husky Hustle walk-a-thon fundraiser. Pre-K -3rd grade students will parade in their Halloween costumes around a course set up in the school yard and enjoy some spooktacular activities lead by Coach Kevin and his team. 4th grade – 8th grade students will take on the challenges set up by Coach Kevin. Any student turning in donations will be given a Husky Hustle shirt. Incentives will be awarded by grade level for individual and classroom participation. Best of all, eligible students (teacher and staff) will have the opportunity to throw a whipped cream pie at Mr. Herring’s face! More information and the donation sheets will be sent home this week.
The next FOJ meeting is on Tuesday, October 4th at 6pm in room 208. All families are invited to discuss our fundraising and outreach efforts.
The annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser is October 15th! We are need of donations for the event: 300 small white paper plates, 6 bottles of hand sanitizer, 5 packages of baby wipes, 2 rolls of duct tape, 20 throw-away table cloths. Please drop off any donations with Margo in the main office.
