Brian McMahon

Hi! I am Brian McMahon. I am a Learning Behavior Specialist II. I have a passion and drive to teach Scholars who learn in a unique way. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Elmhurst College in 2009, graduating Magna Cum Laude, with a focus on Urban Education. I obtained my Master's Degree in Special Education Curriculum Adaptation and Teacher Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017, graduating Summa Cum Laude, focusing on Urban Education Leadership. I will obtain my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards this school year. My teaching experience ranges from kindergarten through eleventh grade. Prior to teaching, I worked in hospitals and clinics as a technology specialist in the area of Nuclear Medicine/PET Scan services.

The classes I teach incorporate a growth mindset, critical thinking, and perseverance through engaging learning. Through setting high expectations for all Scholars, the growth they have academically sets them up for their future success. All students learn when they find themselves within the material they are given.

In my time outside of the classroom, I enjoy cooking international meals, reading, walking by the lakeshore, camping, and spending time with my family and friends. I serve as a servant to my two cats which demand attention and head rubs constantly.
