Stephanie Rossi

Hi Huskies!

I’m one of the school nurses with Jahn and my name is Dr. Stephanie Rossi. My nursing career is diverse and many families I cared for touched my life and brought me to the school setting.

While I’m not a Medical Doctor, I’ve been in school for quite some time! My focus in my Doctoral Nursing program was healthcare systems leadership with a special interest in the impact of meditation on women during pregnancy in relation to one’s perceived stress scale (spoiler alert: it’s very helpful)! My nursing career began in 2006 by serving families my career in nursing in Level One Trauma Centers, serving the highest risk mothers and babies. From there, I was intrigued with the medically intense patients and transitioned into medical cardiac intensive care and responded to hospital wide Codes and Rapid Responses. After working with adults and neonates, I served on the front line in pediatric emergency care on trauma teams. I then served patients who were flown to a more rural area in travel nursing and community health. Finally, I spent time in a more research driven role with pharmacological vigilance and patient safety. My most recent nursing role before coming to CPS was in collaboration with attorneys with high conflict medical litigation.

I guess you could say I’ve done a little bit of everything and it’s sincerely lead me to my deepest purpose: to be a source of empathy, compassion, resource, relationship and trust to the families across the City of Chicago. I’m aligned in my personal and professional goals and values in my role as a school nurse. While each family has differing needs, history, and experiences, we are all one family of families at Jahn. We are all human. We are all suffering and thriving at different times and in various ways. I am always here to meet you where you are. I’m a life-long learner and seek your input on improvements. This is your school! Tell me how I can help! If you have suggestions, I’d love to hear from you!

Outside of work, my family and nature are my rocks. I’d love more time to read, and for the meantime, I am enjoying audio books in my daily work commutes. I love autumn and am proud of the spaghetti sauce I crockpot! I wish I had more time to swim! I have an active meditation practice and highly suggest this as a family practice! If I had four wishes, it would be that everyone had the chance to learn how to read, was never hungry, had safe and stable housing, and at least one safe person to love them unconditionally.

Please email me anytime and I wish you an abundance of peace, health, and love.
