Principal Message - September 12th

Greetings Husky Families

They say time flies when you’re having fun.  Here on the Jahn campus, we’ve truly been doing that - fun, fun, and more fun.  Now don’t think learning isn’t happening here. It’s just when you walk into an environment where students are engaged in creative learning and educators are taking time to know them better, it only adds up to excitement for everyone.  Since the start of the school year, I have intentionally spent time daily in classrooms getting to know our students and seeing what their day looks like.  My excitement for what’s happening on our campus centers around the joy I see through our students’ eyes.

As a reminder, our SEL theme for the month is “Building Community.”  This thematic focus is something we continuously practice across the campus.  Thursday marks the beginning of LatinX & Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Month.  This is a great opportunity to celebrate and recognize the achievements and contributions of these groups throughout the month and beyond.  As a kick-off to the celebration, please join us on the playlot this Thursday for “Churros and Chocolate” starting at 7:30 a.m.  Take time to enjoy a tasty treat, good music, and a warm beverage.

Just a reminder: COVID-19 Testing SIgn-up:  Free, weekly in-school COVID-19 testing takes place at Jahn on Wednesdays.  In order to test, you must complete a new consent form for the 2022-23 school year. This form is available here, and once completed, consent will remain in place until students leave CPS.

Have a wonderful week!

Dr. Derrick Kimbrough, Principal
