Principal Message - September 27th

Greetings Husky Families

As we move into the second half of the first quarter, I am filled with excitement as the love for learning continues to explode across our campus.  On a daily basis, I visit classrooms and spend time with students asking about their learning.  During these visits, I continue to witness why students enjoy being at Jahn.  This feeling, I believe, speaks to the collaborative relationships built with our staff.

Moving into the second half of this quarter also provides us with initial touchpoints to determine where students stand academically.   By the end of the week, we will have concluded our beginning of the year assessment for iReady (Grades K-2) and Star360 (Grades 3-8).  In the coming weeks, you will receive information on how to analyze and understand the assessment results.  Stay tuned!

During this week, please consider taking time to join our Bilingual Advisory Council (BAC).   The first meeting for the year is on Thursday at 9:15.  Come out and learn more about our BAC and provide your support.

As we enter the last week of September, continue to take time and implement activities connected to this month's SEL theme, “Building Community.” Also, be sure to identify ways to celebrate LatinX & Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage Month.

Presently, our school is at 87% with lunch form/family income form completion.  As I school, we need to have at least 97% to receive state funds for the next school year.  Please take a moment to complete this form.  For those who continue to receive a form, it’s because we have not received your form or there is missing information.  If you decline to enter certain information, you can write your child’s name on the top section and sign below marking an N/A across the income section.  Again, take a moment to assist us by filling out the form.

Finally, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to those who “rose to occasion” to support our students with my request last week regarding “Kiss and Go.”  For some, I know that this was a stretch, but I thank you.  With these changes, we witnessed immediate improvements around  the flow of traffic.  To assist, you can refer to this map that speaks to the flow of traffic.  As you can see, the map shows traffic flowing east on Belmont, then heading south on Honore, west on Fletcher, and then north on Wolcott.  Again, thank you for your assistance.

Be Amazing!
