Principal Message - January 22nd

Greetings Husky Families

Welcome to another great week at Jahn School of Fine Arts.

As we move through the third quarter, I encourage you to check in with your child(ren) around our social emotional learning (SEL) themes.  Across the school, students are learning one of the following Second Step themes in their classroom: Empathy or Emotion Management.  It was great to walk into classrooms this past week and hear students share their understanding of the theme.  Please take a moment to ask about their learning.  Like me, I am sure that you will enjoy the dialogue exchange.  Aside from that, students should also be able to share their understanding of our school-wide SEL theme for the month, Goal Setting/Growth Mindset.

Here are a few reminders for the week:

  • OST programming:  Applications for OST programming will go home this week.  Please be sure to check with your child(ren) for that information.  Programming during this window will consist of activities for all grades.  Programming will include staff led courses, as well as, a few partners with learning around science, dance and cooking.  Tons of exciting activities.
  • SEL Parent Survey:  Thank you for taking time to respond to our SEL parent survey.  We would like to make sure that we offer programming centered around your needs.  Responding to this survey assists us with that.  The window for the survey closes on Friday, January 26th.  The link for the survey can be found here:  Parent SEL night survey.
  • Apply for our LSC:  This is a LSC election year.  Please stop by the main office for an application.  Applications are due February 8th.
  • ABAR workgroup:  Our Anti-Bias/Anti-Racist (ABAR) workgroup resumes meeting this Thursday, February 25th at 4:45 pm.  The workgroup is open to staff, parents, and community members.  If you are interested in learning more, please join us.  The Google meeting link is here:
