Principal Message - January 29th

Greetings Husky Families

Welcome to another great week at Jahn School of Fine Arts.

Many thanks to you in supporting your child(ren) as we continue to amplify the work we do around social emotional learning (SEL).  I can not emphasize enough the importance of our students becoming more familiar with self-regulation and clearly recognizing how to better themselves.

For the month of January, our SEL theme is Goal Setting/Growth Mindset.  As we shift into the month of February, we welcome our SEL theme, Using Your Voice.  The theme,  Using Your Voice, allows us to focus on recognizing diversity, being a leader, and striving for social justice.  A few books, along with a video to support your understanding of this theme are listed below:

Primary:  I Can Write The World (Sankofa read aloud)

Intermediate:  Amina’s Voice - Hena Kahn

Middle:  The Poet X - Elizabeth Acevedo

February also provides us with the official opportunity to celebrate African-American history month.  During this month, we acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate the contributions that African-Americans have made to this world.  Here are Jahn, we invite you to join us for the following events during the month of February:

  • February 13th - African Drum performance - 1 pm
  • February 22nd - Food For the Soul (African-American history month dinner) - 10:30 - noon
