Partnership Announcement: Birds in My Neighborhood

The Birds in My Neighborhood program exposes students to nature at a young age and contributes to children's academic achievements, mental health, and social-emotional well-being. Openlands, a not-for-profit organization, manages the BIMN program, and our educators will receive the following support:
  • Hands-on professional development to learn about birds
  • Volunteer-led visits of in-class, neighborhoods, and field trip sessions for student engagement
  • Bird-related classroom resources for extending the learning between volunteer visits
  • Additional funds for educators to purchase materials related to the inquiry-based experience about birds
Thank you to Mrs. Cruz and Dr. Coleman for signing up for this program. They are happy to introduce this learning to their students and to connect their learning to not only our community but also nature centers in the city.

Resources will be extended to all preschool and kindergarten classes and everyone will be taking a field trip to the North Park Village Nature Center in May!
