Principal Message - April 20th

Hello Jahn Families,

I was lucky enough to preview the Literati Book Fair last week. There are a lot of interesting titles, and I am grateful to our dedicated volunteers for bringing this to our school. And in case you were wondering, yes. The smelly erasers are back and they are just as you remember.

Earth Day Art Show celebration is this Wednesday! This is another special Jahn celebration that I can’t wait to be a part of, and am impressed with our community’s commitment to raise awareness and a sense of responsibility to our environment and Earth. Looking forward to seeing you all here at 4:30 Wednesday, April 22.

On Friday CPS communicated with principals and families that May 1st will be a regular day of instruction for CPS.

On April 22nd, CPS will join schools across the country to serve lunch without plastic! School cafeterias serve over 7 billion meals per year, and one day going plastic-free can make a huge impact. Jahn’s Green Team has done great work this school year minimizing waste school wide. Please support their work this Earth Day by eliminating single use plastic in your homes and for your children’s lunches. Thank you!

Pre-K Applications are Open!
The Pre-K application for Fall 2026 is open! Families can apply to up to five schools on chicagoearlylearning.org or by calling the Chicago Early Learning Hotline at (312) 229-1690.

Let’s make it a great week,
Dr. Byrne
