Hello Jahn community,
Pumpkin Patch is such a lovely day for our entire community. Train rides, pumpkin sales, face painting and even local vendors came out Saturday for the event. I loved seeing all of you. Thank you for supporting our school in this way! And of course, our outstanding Friends of Jahn for making it all happen so seamlessly.
If you are ever having a bad day, put on an inflatable costume and run around an elementary school. What a blast we had Monday! Thanks to so many donations and the support of our Friends of Jahn, we were able to crown Axolotl the 2026 champion!
REMINDERS:
Halloween Parade/ information: We will be hosting a costume parade on Friday October 30th at 9:00 am. Please stay tuned for more information closer to the day! If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s classroom celebration, please reach out to the Room Representative assigned to the class.
Report Card Pickup is on Monday, November 2nd. Jahn will hold conferences from 11:00-3:00 and 3:45-6:00. Teachers will reach out to you regarding scheduling and drop in hours. Do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s teacher directly with any questions.
Dismissal: Kinder-2nd grade families- please come all the way onto the playlot for handoffs at dismissal instead of waving from the far side of the gate or near the street. 1-1 handoffs are an expectation to ensure safety of all students. This is especially important when students are being dismissed by a FAW teacher or a substitute. Thank you for your help keeping all of our kids safe.
Health & Wellness Update: As the the season is changing, health officials at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) remind families that keeping kids healthy is one of the most effective ways to support student success in school. This effort includes important steps at home, where small and consistent habits can have a big impact on the spread of illnesses, including regular hand washing, keeping children home when they are not feeling well, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, and through medical visits to stay up to date on routine childhood vaccinations, physical examinations, eye examinations, and dental examinations.
