Isak Albo

Hello! My name is Isak Albo, and I am excited to serve as the fifth- and sixth-grade Social Studies and English Language Arts teacher at Jahn Elementary School.

I was born and raised in Chicago and have spent my entire life in the Roscoe Village and Bricktown communities. Growing up in this area has given me a strong connection to the neighborhood and a deep appreciation for the values that make our community special. I understand the importance we place on education, family, diversity, respect, and supporting one another. It is especially meaningful to me to have the opportunity to teach and give back to the community that helped shape who I am today.

In May 2024, I earned my bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Illinois Chicago. My studies strengthened my passion for literature, writing, history, and helping young people find their voices. I believe that Social Studies and English Language Arts allow students to better understand both the world around them and their own place within it. Through reading, writing, discussion, research, and thoughtful inquiry, students can develop the skills they need to become informed, confident, and compassionate members of their communities.

I strongly believe that education is a fundamental right, although many children around the world still do not have equal access to educational opportunities. Because of this, I do not take the responsibility of teaching lightly. Every student deserves to feel welcomed, supported, challenged, and valued in the classroom. My goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, taking academic risks, and learning from one another.

Throughout the school year, students will explore history, geography, culture, literature, and current issues while continuing to strengthen their reading, writing, speaking, and critical-thinking skills. I hope to help students become curious learners who can examine different perspectives, support their ideas with evidence, and communicate their thoughts clearly and respectfully.

I am looking forward to getting to know each student and family and working together to create a positive and successful school year. I am honored to be part of the Jahn Elementary community and excited for all that we will learn and accomplish together.
