Amanda Mathews

My name is Amanda Mathews.  I am an occupational therapist (OT) at Jahn Elementary.  I received my Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in 2007 and I received my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Mt. Mary University in Milwaukee in 2010.  I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I moved to Chicago right after grad school to begin my career as a pediatric occupational therapist! I have experience treating children in both the outpatient clinic setting and the school setting. Part of my current school-based experience includes working on the citywide assessment team, often transitioning little ones from the Early Intervention setting to the school setting.  As a school OT, I target a student’s fine motor skills, visual motor skills, independent functioning skills, and sensory processing/regulation which are required to access and participate in the classroom curriculum and routines.  In my spare time I love to walk our family's goldendoodle (Hamilton), go on date nights with my husband around the city, and try to snap pictures of our two little kiddos!
