Music
Jahn is rated an Exemplary Fine and Performing Arts School 2025-2028. Jahn scored exemplary, the highest rating, in every single category by the Department of Arts Education. This honor speaks volumes about the work we are doing as a collective when it comes to arts education and integration!
PARTNERSHIPS
Jahn partners with the DePaul University School of Music. The partnership is an incredible opportunity for DePaul Music Education students to get hands-on teaching experience, all while providing our K-3 students with extra music enrichment. DePaul students come to classrooms to work with classes once a week for 30 minutes in addition to music class. We also partner with Skyline Children's Theater for a two-week theater residency program at Jahn for our 4th and 5th grade students. Throughout the residency, students engage in a creative process that combines theatrical skill-building and collaborative storytelling. Students participate in social-emotional learning activities, theater games, vocal exercises, movement exploration, and script analysis. The program culminates with a final performance showcasing selected songs, dances, and student-created scenes that have been rehearsed over the course of the residency. This partnership is an incredible opportunity to ensure our students receive a well-rounded arts education experience that supports their academic growth.
Additionally, we bring in musical and dance performers throughout the school year as an enrichment experience for all of our students. In the past, these partners have included:
- Aztec Dance Chicago
- Puerto Rican Musical Menjunje
- Legacy School of Performing Arts
- Jazz Institute of Chicago
- Lane Tech Majorettes and Drumline Presentation
