Happy Labor Day, Jahn Community!
I hope you had a great long weekend and were able to relax with your children.
This week, we are welcoming you all to our Open House on 9/10 from 4:00-6:00. This is a great time to meet the families in your children’s classrooms, spend time with teachers and staff and learn about the expectations of a new year in a new grade. I look forward to seeing you there!
Also on deck this September is our annual HUSKY HUSTLE. What a fun tradition and way to support our school community. Thank you Friends of Jahn and Coach Crystal for organizing this event, and to everyone who is able to support us. The contributions that have been made to our school because of fundraisers like the Hustle have made dramatic improvements for the daily experience at Jahn. So mark your calendars and make sure your kids wear gym shoes on 9/18!
This week we are wrapping up our BOY testing. This gives teachers and support staff a new starting point for each child in Math and Reading. Our goal is that all of our students grow and keep growing throughout the year. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions on this data or how it will impact instruction for your child.
Volunteer Status. Any in school participation will require all volunteers to have clearance through CPS. Any family member expressing interest in volunteering should review the options and requirements ASAP. I cannot stress enough how imperative it is you complete this process soon- it seems to be taking a lot longer than in the past, and I don’t want anyone to miss an opportunity. As a reminder, volunteering and chaperoning at Jahn is a privilege managed by myself and Ms. Garrett. Approval of a volunteer application does not guarantee anyone’s participation, and we retain the right to end any permission at our discretion. Thank you for understanding and doing your part to keep our kids and community safe.
