Parent Advisory Council
Parent Advisory Councils (PACs) empower parents to serve as partners in the education of their children at schools that receive Title 1 funding.
Each academic year, Title 1 schools establish PACs to bring together parents/legal guardians, teachers/staff, and community stakeholders to work with their school principal in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Title I Program.
PACs use the federal funds to plan programs of interest to families that supports their children’s academic success. At Jahn, PAC activities have included:
- Workshops
- CPS required sexual health curriculum
- Second Step curriculum rooted in social-emotional learning
- Math curriculum
- Online safety
- Events/information
- Family literacy event ("Summer Prep Picnic")
- High school application process
- Printer and supplies for the Parent Room
Did you know that Jahn has a Parent Room? We do! It’s located in the basement and can be used by parents for meetings, volunteer work, or to utilize any books or supplies, including the computer and printer.

PAC consists of parent/guardians of students currently at Jahn. Everyone is a voting member, including community members in the attendance area, as long as they do not outnumber parent/guardians.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Managers from the district share information and build leadership capacity at monthly PAC Collaborative meetings for parents and community members from Title 1 schools within a Network.
