As we walk into our second week of the third quarter of learning, I am filled with excitement. First off, it’s great to have our students and staff back in the building. While the break was great, it’s always better to witness learning. Secondly, I loved walking around the building last week and seeing the Jahn family bringing January’s SEL theme to life (Goal Setting/Growth Mindset).

The Jahn Anti-Bias / Anti-Racist (ABAR) Working Group is a collection of Jahn administration, teachers, community members, and parents. Our mission is to help Jahn develop curriculum and policies that address discriminatory practices, and conduct community engagement through an anti-biased and anti-racist lens. Do you have a 3rd-5th grade student who could benefit from some positive support and mentoring? Big Brothers Big Sisters is launching a partnership at Jahn and we are actively recruiting Jahn 3rd-5th graders who would be interested in this opportunity!

Registration has begun for a brand-new session which will start on Friday, January 13th. LVL is providing after-school, basketball instruction as part of the extra-curricular offerings for the students and parent community of Jahn. The objective of this program is to provide young players the perfect introduction to the game of basketball through fun and engaging instruction, while increasing knowledge of the sport.

In less than a week, we will say farewell to our first two quarters of learning. When I reflect on my Jahn experience thus far, I am overwhelmed with excitement. Who knew when I stepped on this campus that I would be embraced by enthusiastic students, a welcoming staff, and a warm community.

Spirit Week will be held the week of December 19th. Remember: No school for students on Friday. Happy Winter Break to all!

Please join us at the Jahn Artisan Market this Saturday, December 17th from 10am-2pm. Shop with professional local artisan vendors as well as our own Jahn arts student artisan sales. Enjoy caroling and open microphone performances. All are welcome to this public event!
